Today, I started with continuing to work on my project. I added some color to different parts of it so it doesn't look so grey and bland. Then I got called into an engineering meeting in the conference room. I thought that that was really cool. All of the engineering team was there and they were all talking about new products that they were coming out with like Joe's new WGR tool. All of the engineers had input and questions for Joe about the WGR. Then another engineer showed us his designs for a part that attaches onto the side of the AutoBox 200 that allows the hose to go into whatever is being cleaned easier. The part has rigid 18 inch pipes that the hose goes through. The pitch, or width between the pipes, can be adjusted on the side with a knob that moves in increments. I thought it was really cool the way the know was designed. The shaft of the knob has small slots on the side. On each side of the hole that the knob goes into are two screws with a spring on the end. Inside the spring are small balls that go into the slots. As you turn the knob, it clicks when the ball slips into the groove. this gives the knob a nice feel as you turn it, as well as gives it stability when you let it go. I thought it was cool how he was able to integrate that into the design for the tool. After that I continued to work on my project. I was able to get quite a bit done.
At about 11:30, Hugh, Stirling and I went to Serious Texas Barbeque for lunch. When we got back I finished up the particular part I was working on and went to help Hugh set up for the marketing shoot that was happening tomorrow. I got the sides all cleaned up and put the front plates that I had cleaned onto the one we were going to shoot. I even got to put the decal on. When I was finished with that, I went back inside and continued to work on my project. I got the two outside tanks built and the underground piping completed. I just had to finish putting the levers on the shutoff valve and the three way valve and I was done. In order to make the handles, I had to use the flex tool, which I didn't have a ton of experience with. I got it figured out though, which was a lot of fun. I was cool to be able to figure something challenging out by myself. I added some more color to other parts and it was done! By this time I only had about half an hour left in my day. I used the rest of this time to transcribe my interview with Rawlin into a word document.
